Auxiliary starter for those cold North Dakota winters

Case tiller retarding chisel
A retarding chisel is included with the tiller for mounting behind the chain case. This chisel aids in tractor speed control for some tilling conditions. By installing this chisel angled ahead and slightly above the cutting level of the tiller tines, it will help to prevent the tiller from driving the tractor too fast, and it will also break up the ridge under the chain case. The chisel can also be used for limiting tillage depth by setting it under the tine cutting level and angling it to the rear. There is little need for the chisel when using the tiller for normal tilling, weed control and aeration or if operating the tiller in reverse rotation.
My homemade log splitter
I actually did not start this splitter from scratch. Someone else started it and left it at a junk yard that I used to patronize. I did modify it quite a bit however. I just use the PTO valve to operate the cylinder. I made a long extension for the valve handle out of an old aluminum mop handle. Using that extension I can operate the valve from back where I am feeding the logs into the splitter. The vertical posts on each end of the beam are used to raise or lower the beam to a comfortable working height. Also I can easily remove the wheels and lay the back end of the beam right on the ground if I am splitting very large logs. That way I can just roll them onto the splitter instead of having to lift them up on to it.
