Differential Oil Change - 4016

Postby jerryck74 » Sat Mar 10, 2018 1:01 pm

Good Day to you all: After sitting unused for a couple of years its time to give my new in 1994 4016 some much needed attention. I would like to change all fluids and filters. I know to use Shell Rotella 15w - 40 instead of regular hydraulic oil but I can't find any information on changing the fluid for the differential. I assume it should be changed at some point. The question is; what oil should I use as replacement for the differential and is there any other service I should do for that part of the drive train. I have looked in the FAQ section and I see that someone asked the question but I don't see an answer. I will apologize in advance for asking a question that has already been answered. Thank you to all who know much more than I do. I appreciate all the knowledge.

Factory recommendation is in the owner's manuals.

However, after consulting many 30+ year dealers, we recommend using 3 pints of 80W90 gear lube in the rear axle of the 4000 series tractors.

Hi Brian, Thank you so much for the reply. Your timing is perfect since this is the weekend I plan to do this chore. I'll get back to you if I have any problems.

Best Regards
Jerry
