case 446

Postby scooter » Sun Aug 12, 2012 10:29 am

I just rebuilt and painted a 1977 case model 446 garden tractor. I noticed after a very short time the muffer and pipes are starting to bubble the decals. Is there a smaller muffler I could replace the one on it with and or reroute tne pipes?

I have the same problem with a 446 and a 448 with Onan engines. So far I have not done anything about it. I have seen several tractors pictured with dual exhausts made from the original manifold flanges and welded to black pipe fittings. They route the exhaust outward and down to a small engine muffler on each side of the tractor. Some turn them up and put a chrome exhaust stack on them. I don't know of anything that would address the problem without some fabricating.
